FIRST TPM MARSEILLE MARCH 25TH & 26TH — Youth for Peace Project Kicks Off with an Inspiring First Meeting in Marseille!

This meeting marks the beginning of our two-year project which aimed to foster the exchange of experiences and best practices among professionals working with youth on peace education and social justice. The Youth for Peace project will also actively promote youth participation to highlight their essential role as agents of change and advocates for peaceful coexistence.

On March 25th and 26th, Marseille came alive with energy and ideas as the project kicked off its first official meeting, gathering nine partner organizations from across the Mediterranean at the Institut Méditerranéen de Formation Recherche et Intervention Sociale (IMF RIS). Despite some rainy weather, the team made the most of the experience, combining dynamic work sessions with moments to enjoy the iconic charm of the Vieux Port area.

Two Days of Collaborative Success

During this two-day session, the partners delved into the project’s four major Work Packages, each bringing its set of tools to strengthen our mission of fostering peace among youth. The main objectives of our first Transnational Project Meeting were :

  • Strategic planning across Work Packages: Each Work Package Leader presented objectives, tasks and deliverables for their respective packages. The presentations outlined the methodology for all upcoming local and international activities. Each Work Package Leader prepared and shared a presentation explaining the objectives, tasks and deliverables, including all deadlines of the WP.
  • Role assignments: Detailed discussions clarified roles and tasks, with each partner organization outlining their contributions. This clear division of responsibilities promises a well-coordinated process as we move forward.
  • Monitoring & evaluation tools: The project’s general coordinator, AIIJ, introduced our measurement and evaluation framework, which will track progress and impact in each organization. This structure will ensure we achieve our goals and adjust strategies when necessary.
  • Visibility and Outreach: From logo design to social media and stakeholder meetings, we laid out our plans to maximize the project’s visibility and ensure dissemination.

Beyond the productive work sessions, the meeting also provided space for partners to share questions, resources, and tools. This exchange fostered a strong team dynamic and a sense of unity that will power the Youth for Peace project to success.

Next Steps

Our next meeting is set for the end October 2024 in Egypt, where we’ll come together again to advance our work and deepen our collaboration. As the Youth for Peace project unfolds, follow our journey online and stay tuned for more updates on this important initiative on our website.
