Youth for Peace – Palermo Multiplier Event (Italy)

On 23 October 2025, CESIE brought the Youth for Peace spirit to ZAC – Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa in Palermo, hosting a vibrant Multiplier Event that blended reflection, dialogue, and Mediterranean storytelling. From the moment the doors opened at 2:30 PM, the space filled with students, youth workers, educators, and community members ready to explore what peace and social justice mean in our region.

A Journey Through Social Justice and Mediterranean Realities

The event unfolded in three dynamic parts:

  • A powerful exhibition on social justice in Southern Lebanon, giving participants a visual and emotional entry point into the lived experiences behind the project’s themes.
  • A discussion on education, where the team presented the project’s Dossier and walked the audience through the main achievements of Youth for Peace.
  • A collective conversation on social justice in the Mediterranean, focusing especially on Lebanese communities and their enduring culture of nonviolent resistance in times of conflict.

The discussions stayed intense until 5 PM, with many participants exchanging perspectives, asking questions, and drawing links between Mediterranean societies.

A Strong Participation

A total of 62 participants joined the Multiplier Event, creating a lively mix of voices:

  • youth workers
  • educators
  • students
  • researchers
  • civil society members

The diversity in backgrounds helped shape a deeper, more grounded conversation on the project’s impact.

Feedback from Participants

The feedback was warm and encouraging. Many expressed genuine curiosity and appreciation for the project’s focus on Mediterranean Social Justice. The presence of experts in education, youth work, and social sciences helped spark a meaningful debate around:

  • peace education
  • regional cooperation
  • local and transnational forms of resilience
  • the importance of youth engagement in shaping fairer societies

Participants highlighted how the project opens new channels for dialogue across the Mediterranean.

CESIE made sure that the Erasmus+ Programme remained highly visible throughout the event. The agenda, posters, and other materials followed the official visibility rules of the European Commission.
Organizers also took time to explain the funding line and the cooperation between EU and non-EU partners, reinforcing the value of collaboration across borders.

The event took place inside the Sabir Festival, one of Italy’s major festivals on human rights.
Thanks to this collaboration, the Youth for Peace project gained additional exposure through:

  • the festival’s social media channels
  • partner organisations’ websites
  • national and international audiences attending the XI edition of the Festival

This created a broader platform for the project and expanded its reach beyond the local community.
