Presentation of the Project in Tunisia
Introducing the “Youth for Peace” Project in Akouda, Sousse
On April 30th, 2024, we had the pleasure of meeting with around 24 young people in Akouda, Sousse, to introduce them to our new project, Youth for Peace. This event provided an excellent opportunity for local youth, students, and youth workers to gather, engage in meaningful discussions, and explore how they can contribute to building peace in their communities. The focus of the meeting was on Peace Education and the objectives of the Youth for Peace initiative, highlighting the valuable skills participants could gain through involvement.
The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm as the participants expressed their interest in the project. Many of them were eager to acquire new competencies, and the event attracted both familiar faces—our dedicated volunteers—and new members, particularly university students who discovered the initiative through our social media channels. The young people were especially excited about the potential to explore themes like video editing and content creation, areas in which some already had experience, while others were eager to learn. The meeting also sparked the idea for additional activities and events, reflecting the participants’ eagerness to take an active role in peace-building and to continue making positive changes in their community.
The energy and motivation displayed by the participants during the event underscored the importance of projects like Youth for Peace in empowering young people. By providing a platform for them to express their ideas, learn new skills, and collaborate on meaningful initiatives, the project fosters a sense of ownership and responsibility toward creating a more peaceful and inclusive society. As the young people voiced their excitement and shared ideas for future activities, it became clear that they are not just participants but active agents of change. This sense of community and shared purpose is exactly what we aim to cultivate as we move forward with the project, and we look forward to seeing these young leaders grow, engage, and contribute to peace-building efforts in the months ahead.
