The Project Youth for Peace in the Mediterranean Sea has been launched in Málaga
On April 30, 2024, the Youth for Peace in the Mediterranean Sea project was officially launched in Málaga during a presentation hosted at the UN House, located in Plaza General Torrijos. This initiative, organized by the Foro para la Paz en el Mediterráneo in collaboration with CIFAL Málaga, represents a significant step toward fostering peace and cooperation among youth in the Mediterranean region.
The event brought together stakeholders, representatives of social organizations, and volunteers committed to promoting intercultural dialogue and addressing the challenges facing Mediterranean societies. Attendees expressed great interest in the countries involved in the project, which include Spain, France, Morocco, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia, and Italy. The project’s emphasis on inclusivity, even reaching countries outside the European Union, was particularly praised as a necessary approach for tackling shared regional challenges.
During the presentation, participants were introduced to the project’s objectives, including empowering youth to become active agents of peace, fostering cross-cultural exchanges, and building sustainable networks for collaboration. The organizers highlighted the role of the Erasmus+ Programme as a co-funding partner, showcasing its vital contribution to the project.
Feedback from the participants was overwhelmingly positive. Many appreciated the opportunity to learn about the project’s activities, which include workshops, intercultural exchanges, and innovative tools for youth professionals. The importance of evaluating the project’s impact and ensuring long-term sustainability was also highlighted during discussions.
The launch of Youth for Peace in the Mediterranean Sea marks the beginning of a two-year journey to foster peace education and mutual understanding across the region. With the support of Erasmus+ and the enthusiasm of stakeholders, this project promises to build bridges between cultures and inspire young people to take an active role in shaping a more peaceful and inclusive Mediterranean.
